WEB 3.0
Web3 or Web 3.0 is the new iteration of the world wide web. It’s been a long time since we saw a new innovation in the world wide web but now as the world is going forward WEB3 is coming into place. WEB 1.0 was introduced in 1989 and it was like Wikipedia, there were only books and reading materials available on the web. You can only read the information available on 1.0 and can’t edit it and after that in 2004, WEB 2.0 came into existence in which the information can be altered as it was read and write. Websites took your personal data to show you the information that was suitable for you. There were centralized networks on which data was being stored and there was sole proprietorship of companies that have control over your data if you are using their platform.
Examples of WEB 2.0 are Facebook, Twitter, TikTok, Amazon etc. that invade your privacy and control your data and then show you things that you have interest in. Whatever you are doing, visiting, searching all is monitored to analyses your interests. The data is in centralized networks means if you are using Facebook then all the data will be at Facebook servers so it’s up to Facebook whatever it does with your data. Because of that Facebook monitor your activities and then show you things differently like even me and my friends open Facebook at the same time the timeline will be way different because of our interests. And data cannot be changed and altered because everything that's on the internet will stay there forever.
Coming on to WEB that gained momentum in the past 1-2 years, the data is stored on a decentralized network across different systems.3.0 runs completely on blockchain that's why data is spread across different networks that means no individual has control over data. On 3.0 user can decide who can use the data at what time and for how long he can use it. People on the network can download the data and then share it forward. If the owner of data thinks that it’s not going well, he can stop the access and can also delete data if he feels uncomfortable on the web. On Web 2 the user was limited to post anything because it was restricted. Web 3.0 allows users to post whatever they want to without any restrictions but if people around it thinks that the data posted is harmful then it can be removed. WEB 3.0 is getting hype because it allows users to hide their personal data and surf on the Interweb.
People who are on WEB 3 are given rewards tokens in return of their participation on WEB 3.0 and the person with most tokens will be on the top but that doesn’t mean he will have full control over everything like a CEO rather every user on the web will have authority over their data so they can decide how their data can be exchanged. Not only it’s a website but there are a number of apps on WEB 3.0 that are based on blockchain and prefer cryptocurrency and also WEB 3 mostly contains Artificial intelligence so its future is bright.
Introverts and people who don't want to reveal themselves will benefit a lot from WEB 3.0 because they don't get revealed while making a transaction or exchanging information. In WEB 2.0 whole information and activity of the user was monitored while on 3.0 the identity is hidden.
For example, if you are using Web 3.0 and
makes a purchase on amazon, you will pay the money via Meta mask (a crypto
wallet based on blockchain for online transactions) and you can use it for many
other reasons like sending gifts to your friends, leaving like on their posts
without them knowing. It changing the way how we are surfing on the Innerwebs,
the people who were hesitated to be on social media can now take part in web
3.0 and enjoy on there without having any fear of privacy.
